monday - friday 8:00am - 5:00pmemergency food is available at our community action centers. eligibility is based on immediate need. a food box is made up of a variety of food to give the customer a three-day supply, which is made up according to the number in the household. some types of food are united states department of agriculture foods, foods purchased with emergency food and shelter program funds; foods donated from local grocery stores, and gleaned foods.the gleaning project is available in some counties, however, the largest project is in canyon county. staff works with the local farmers to glean produce left in their fields or orchards after harvest has been completed. there is a team organized to go out into the fields, gather the produce, and then split their gleaned produce with others that cannot do the physical work.
